"Inclusive businesses are a very good chance for established companies to grow and for new ones to be set up, giving opportunities to committed people with initiative, and combining social and economic aspects.”

Real Projects, Real Stories

"At first I wasn’t convinced that the idea of Inclusive Business was a good way to work. However, taking a good look at it, buying milk from small farmers wasn’t such a bad idea… If I buy milk from hundreds of small producers, the profit goes directly to the base of the economy... In addition, these people are going to buy a lot more of my product."

-  Edward Mcintosh, General Manager, TONI
How does IB differ from 'classical' development?

"The Inclusive Business model is different because it is a model for collaboration through which businesses negotiate on a joint basis with small producers a common strategy that generates mutual profits for a specific value chain. IB differs from 'classical' development since it considers the private sector as a partner in the fight against poverty. This dynamic model permits enterprises to enhance its business operations through the design of alternatives and solutions that involve producers in a relation of mutual confidence."

- Daniel Shepherd, Senior Operations Specialist, Multilateral Investment Fund, IDB

SNV helps strengthen local capacities

"Since we began our Inclusive Business with SNV and Cervecería Nacional (in English, National Brewery), the quality and quality of our harvests have improved. The project provides us with fertiliser and seeds at a better price and has constructed an irrigation canal for our crops. Thanks to the project, we've formed an association and strengthened our local capacities."

-  Enrique López, Rice Producer, Guayas, Ecuador
