We are pleased to present the results of SNV Latin America’s scenario planning project exploring potential models for economic development in Central America over the next 20 years. We convened this effort in order to expand the thinking of regional stakeholders about what development means and how it might be achieved. While the region has seen areas of success in improving the state of the economy, and while there are a number of excellent initiatives being proposed to achieve even greater success, we believe that two fundamental challenges have yet to be addressed—both of which may be keeping proposed development efforts from reaching their full potential.
